Sculptures by the sea

Yesterday we did the coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte to see the Sculptures by the sea. There was sunshine and clear blue water, and lots of people enjoying the day. There was a lot to see. Both of our favourites was the statue top left in this grid. So clever.

The sea, the sea

We both love the sea and are lucky enough to live close to it and admire it most days even when the sun isn't shining. Leanne swims and puts her head underwater, I 'teabag', a quick dip in and out.

sunny days

Taking advantage of the sunshine while we can! The weather is a bit all over the place at the moment- so best to enjoy the blue skies and the pool or ocean views whenever the sun is out.

Bridge climbers

Have you been to the Sydney Harbour Bridge? it is such a beautiful bridge but the climb up it is not for the feint hearted. The views at the top are spectacular and it was fun to watch the climbers on their way to the top and at the top.

Reflection and meditation.

Yesterday we met in the city to participate in an art flow experience at the Museum of Contemporary  Art. It's a pilot project that involves sitting with a piece of art for 45 minutes (in our case a video installation). We reflected on our emotions & the intentions of the artist. It was quite lovely and meditative and a bit surprising as it is rare in this hurried world to stop and take in the things around us so intentionally.

So we carried it into the rest of our day, paying attention to all the things around us. Our photos of the Sydney Opera House show 2 different perspectives...one from the front of the MCA & one from the top outdoor cafe.

Weaving magic

Those of you who read this blog may not be aware that Leanne is a very very talented weaver and she made me the most beautiful wall hanging recently. I provided the feathers that I had collected locally over the years and leanne weaved a wonderful circular sculpture and added the feathers around the side. Do have a look at her work on instagram and book in for one of her workshops too.

White flowers

There's something really lovely about white flower in spring- in a vase or on a table.

what about pink? pink in the garden is all about spring isn't it? so soft and lovely.

yellow

Yellow is such a cheery colour & it is so beautiful in nature. We've been noticing it, particularly as spring approaches.
Even though it makes me smile when I see it in gardens, I don't own any yellow clothes or soft furnishings. The only yellow I have in my home are the lemons in the fruit bowl.

 Do you like yellow?

Bridges

Bridges contain so many great visual concepts once you start looking for them. These show all the triangles and once you start looking for triangles, you find them everywhere.

cactus

During the week we visited the Botanical gardens in Sydney. We both took photos of the cacti at the front gate. Such interesting form, shape and texture.

It's always fun to watch the surfers out on the ocean. Never tempted to try it, but we admire their bravery. Top picture Leanne, bottom picture Justine

rainy days

So far this year, at nearly the end of July, we've had more rain that we usually would get in a whole year. The weather at the moment is crazy- heat waves in the northern hemisphere and the wettest year ever for us.  It is a huge concern for our world having these extreme weather events.
It does help to take moments to notice the pretty- the light on the raindrops, the shades of green in nature.

Somewhere to sit

Cane chairs with cushions, light streaming through the window. A moment of sunshine on a chilly winter
day.  A lovely spot to sit for a cup of tea and a book perhaps?

A fresh start..

It's a cold and windy winter day, so we decided to dust off our old blog!
After a few technical hitches (I'd forgotten how to access blogspot), we thought it would be fun to revisit  two takes.
A photo from each of us that are connected in some way. We are going to post one above the other rather that join them together in groups of four or two, but with the same idea- seeing things from the perspective of two photographers- two takes..

Because it is so bleak outside (for an Australian winter) we thought we'd get started with some indoor inspiration. Lavender and tulips, how pretty.
