Wooden doors

I'm often drawn to a rustic door, rough & wooden with peeling paint. I love the pop of red in the flower pot in front of the exposed brick wall.

 This is a door into a barn in my mother's house in the countryside in Sussex, England. The barn used to store hay when we were growing up but now sadly it sits empty and locked up. I love to photograph it at various times of the year and this photo I took yesterday and I will take more over the autumn and winter as the ivy colours fade. I think families of mice get through that little gap at the bottom of the door. 

old buildings

Old, derelict buildings are present almost everywhere. They sometimes become the backdrop for graffiti and weeds grow up all around them. I noticed that this one is in council at the moment with developers wanting to knock it down. It's very interesting to think about heritage value vs new and more functional buildings. 

 This building was once a fish shop that was built in the 1960's.
